Boom three-year-old Russian Revolution is the early favourite in betting markets for Saturday’s featured Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1200m) in Brisbane.

The Snitzel colt broke through for a maiden win at the highest level and amongst open company first-up this time and has continued to firm into 2017 Doomben 10,000 odds of $3.30 with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of the confirmation of a final field and barrier draw.

Russian Revolution has shown plenty of ability throughout his short but impressive racing career so far and will take his place in the Doomben 10,000 field with an impressive record of five wins, through only seven starts.

Making a perfect transition to black type company in spring when he posted consecutive wins in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) and Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes (1200m), Russian Revolution was sent for a spell after a gutsy run for fourth behind Flying Artie in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) on Derby Day.

A brilliant winner of the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) first-up this time, the colt out of Ballet D’Amour set the pace in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) on Day 1 of The Championships, but was run down in the final straight and finished sixth.

Having won a barrier trial at Randwick last week, trainers Peter & Paul Snowden are thrilled with the colt’s condition and he should prove extremely hard to beat under the conditions of the Doomben 10,000.

Black Heart Bart is unlikely to take his place in the Doomben 10,000 field, but the multiple Group 1 winner is a $6 second-favourite in early betting markets for the Brisbane feature.

The Blackfriars gelding is one of the country’s best current racehorses and has already claimed wins in both the Group 1 Ladbrokes CF Orr Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) this year most notably.

Defending champion Music Magnate won the Doomben 10,000 when it was run at 1350m, but the classy gelding will carry winning form into the race and represents terrific value at early odds of $7.

The Written Tycoon gelding recorded a smart win in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Randwick first-up on January 28^th, but struggled in the heavy going when fading late for fifth in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m).

Having simply failed to fire when twelfth behind Russian Revolution in The Galaxy, Music Magnate was far too good for his rivals in the Group 2 Victory Stakes (1200m) upon returning to Brisbane a fortnight ago and finished an easy length-and-a-half winner.

The 2017 Doomben 10,000 field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
