Turbo Miss Wins Frances Tressady Stakes

Turbo Miss has produced a big turn of foot in the final straight at Flemington to win the Group 3 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) from a fast-finishing Rising Romance.

Turbo Miss jumped from the gates only fairly in the Frances Tressady Stakes, but found a good position in transit within the field of eleven as Choose, Diamond Baroness and Jalan Jalan injected plenty of early tempo into the race.

Caught in a line of runners upon arriving at the final straight, the Sebring mare immediately responded when asked for an extra effort by jockey Craig Williams and pulled clear of her rivals; hitting the line half a length in the fore of Rising Romance to post her maiden black type win.

Williams delivered a well-timed performance on Turbo Miss to win the Frances Tressady Stakes and believes that she will only take benefit from the run.

“We wanted to use her gate to dictate where in the race she ran, but she actually got a little bit upset before and just threw up in the air a little bit,” Williams said.

“I had to be kind to her to make sure that we didn’t lose our nice position without firing up, but she did fire up a little.

“She gave me a beautiful run. I was held up a little coming into the straight and she did a really good job to get out.

“She won nice and comfortably in the end and they’ve done a great job with her, because now she’s got a bit of black type on her page and she’s a valuable mare now.

“Its worked out really well and typical of Darren (Weir, trainer). Back to 1400m where she won her last start and even though she was up in grade, they were confident.

“They just said ride her to run well and she did the rest. She’s done really well.”

Turbo Miss began her racing career under the guidance of David Payne, but has undoubtedly found career-best form since arriving at Weir’s Ballarat stables in early 2016.

Punters who backed Turbo Miss to win the Frances Tressady Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au have been paid out on generous $8.50 odds!
