The Vo Rogue Plate 2016 odds at Eagle Farm on Saturday are sure to be short on the headline final acceptor for the Brisbane summer showdown Winning Rupert.

Undefeated to date having won all four of his career starts, the Bjorn Baker-trained Written Tycoon colt is the top-rated of the dozen final acceptances for the $200,000 Group 3 BRC Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) at Brisbane’s New Year’s Eve race meeting.
Drawn well in barrier five with Jeff Lloyd retaining the ride on the three-year-old flyer, Written Tycoon was last seen enjoying a barnstorming 5.5 length win at the Doomben track on December 17 in the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m).
He tracks perfectly towards a January 14 run at the Gold Coast in the $2 million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m), a race he is already at $2.30 to win through Ladbrokes.com.au in the pre-field markets.
Second to Winning Rupert one before the Gold Edition Plate in a 1200m Eagle Farm clash on December 3 was the local Liam Birchley-trained Crack Me Up who is out to close the gap on Saturday.
The Mossman gelding was well-beaten when nearly six lengths off the gun winner last time out in just his second run since a failed 12th to Sacred Elixir in the Group 1 J.J. Atkins (1600m) over the winter.
The Vo Rogue Plate will be Crack Me Up’s fourth Eagle Farm run and he jumps from gate seven with Damian Lane booked for the ride.
Lane replaces James Orman in the saddle, Orman booked to ride rival Doubt Defying from gate six.
The Steven O’Dea-trained Not A Single Doubt gelding Doubt Defying comes off a Doomben win from December 17 over 1350m and looks a livewire place chance again this weekend.
O’Dea has also accepted for smart Sebring filly Candika who comes off a close second in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m) first-up at the track on December 10.
She is sure to have taken improvement off her resuming run and is drawn in gate nine on the weekend with Paul Hammersley to ride.
The outside barrier (12) meanwhile belongs to the John & Chris Meagher-trained Billy The Kid who chases a third win on the trot.
Luke Dittman will be aboard doing his best from the wide alley on the ultra-consistent Savabeel gelding who is undefeated at Eagle Farm and who enjoyed a 2.3 lengths win over 1400m at the track in late November.
He is joined in the field by stablemate Rich Affair who is drawn far better in barrier two for his hoop Glen Colless.
Lightly-raced having just his third career start in the Group 3, Rich Affair won on debut at the Gold Coast back in May before a first-up fourth to Winning Rupert in the Gold Edition Plate.
Birchley meanwhile also has the rails-drawn Natural Black in the mix with Brisbane’s top hoop Damian Browne riding the in-form son of Rothesay.
Natural Black is as yet unraced outside of the Sunshine Coast where, from four career starts, he boasts two wins, a second and a third.
