Earlier in the week Racing Victoria (RV) received 18 nominations for the $200,000 Group 2 Schweppes Tristarc Stakes (1400m), one of the key support races at Caulfield Racecourse on Saturday.
Of the remaining Tristarc Stakes nominations the all-in markets at Ladbrokes.com.au are led by the in-form Written Tycoon six-year-old Tycoon Tara ($4).
She has won three of her four starts this time in including most recently the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill by two lengths on September 24.
Tycoon Tara defeated Dixie Blossoms by the big margin in the Golden Pendant, the form of which was franked by the runner-up last Saturday when Dixie Blossoms won the Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m).
Now Team Snowden head south with their mare targeting the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival riches, Tycoon Tara a previous Group 3 winner at the Caulfield track.
Along with Tycoon Tara, the other best out of Sydney’s Golden Pendant is the John O’Shea-trained third placegetter Pearls.
Hot Tycoon Tara’s heels in the futures Tristarc Stakes betting markets at $4.40 for the win is the John Thompson-trained Fastnet Rock five-year-old First Seal.
Winner of the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) as a three-year-old defeating Australia’s glamour mare Winx back in 2014, First Seal chases her first victory this weekend since the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) first-up in Sydney back in February.
She comes off a fifth to Tycoon Tara in the Golden Pendant and has her first Caulfield run on Saturday over her pet distance (4-2-1-0) and she be improved second-up.
The other two best in the pre-field markets for the mares’ set weights plus penalties clash are Danish Twist ($5.50) and Telopea ($7.50).
Newcastle’s Kris Lees’ has Danish Twist racing second-up after her brave third beaten just a neck by Takedown at Randwick on October 1 in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m).
Telopea meanwhile is prepared by Victoria’s leading horseman Darren Weir and was last seen running a close fourth in Flemington’s Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m).
Weir has also nominated for Rockolicious who ran fifth in the Blazer Stakes, beaten only 2.55 lengths by the winner French Emotion.
The Chris Waller-trained Blazer Stakes winning daughter of Snitzel, French Emotion, is also nominated for a rematch this weekend in the Tristarc Stakes.
She has had two previous Caulfield runs for two seconds and has solid form over the distance (5-2-2-0).
Sitting second on the Tristarc Stakes ballot behind First Seal is the lightly-raced Michael Kent-trained Abbey Marie from Cranbourne.
A winner of all three of her career starts to date, the four-year-old daughter of Redoute’s Choice hasn’t had a run since her Group 1 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) success in Adelaide on May 7.
See below for the full Tristarc Stakes 2016 nominations, the final field and barriers due out on Wednesday making now the time to head to Ladbrokes.com.au and back your early selections at their generous all-in odds.
