Azkadellia went to another level during her autumn campaign and she recorded a maiden Group 1 victory in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes, but her career is now at a crossroads due to a Racing Victoria investigation into her ownership bona fides.
The daughter of Shinko King was set to start her 2016 Spring Racing Carnival campaign in the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday, but Racing Victoria stewards rejected her nominations under Australian Rule of Racing 50 that stipulates stewards can reject any nomination of entry without giving any reason to do so.
The 2016 Tristarc Stakes nominations are still packed full of quality and there are still 17 horses in contention for the $200,000 event.
The most interesting horse in the Tristarc Stakes is the unbeaten Abbey Marie, who is already a Group 1 winner despite having had just three race starts.
Abbey Marie started her career with back-to-back wins at Sandown and Caulfield before she outstayed Silent Sedition to take out the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville on May 7.
Another mare that is set to take winning form into the Tristarc Stakes is Tycoon Tara.
Tycoon Tara has been an absolute revelation since she joined the stable of Team Snowden and she has already taken out the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m), Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) and Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) during her 2016 Sydney Spring Racing Carnival campaign.
First Seal was upstaged by Tycoon Tara in the Golden Pendant, but she will have the chance to turn-the-tables on her rival in the Tristarc Stakes.
Amazingly, the daughter of Fastnet Rock is set to have her first start in Melbourne in the Tristarc Stakes after exclusively racing in New South Wales during her racing career to date.
French Emotion finally broke through for a maiden win at Group level with an impressive performance in the Group 2 Blazer Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on October 2 and she will have the opportunity to record back-to-back wins.
The likes of Coronation Shallan, Danish Twist, Denmagic, Pearls, Rockolicious, Serene Majesty, Telopea, Shillelagh and Vibrant Rouge have also been included in the Tristarc Stakes nominations.
