Secret Agenda has justified her resounding favouritism at Caulfield this afternoon; producing a particularly smarty turn of foot to take out the Group 3 Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes (1200m).
Secret Agenda jumped from the gates only fairly this afternoon, but comfortably found an ideal position in transit on the heels of Shakespearean Lass and Miss Promiscuity.
Rounding onto the final straight wide, the Not A Single Doubt mare took a few strides to find top gear but comfortably overcame the field of nine when she was offered clear running.
Damien Oliver was aboard Secret Agenda in the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes and revealed that the mare received a dream run in transit.
“She loves getting her toe in the ground with a bit of give, like it is here today,” Oliver said.
“They didn’t go that hard but she was travelling comfortably and gave a good kick on the turn.
“She wasn’t brilliant out of the gates but I wasn’t too concerned because they weren’t going too hard and I was just behind them.
“I was just in a nice, controlling position.”
Mick Price was thrilled with Secret Agenda’s dominant win this afternoon and revealed that she will be kept on a black type campaign amongst mares’ company; likely contesting all races in the Ladbrokes series.
“She’s become a bit of a mare and it was good she won,” Price said.
“She’ll definitely improve. The give in the ground is the key to her and she’s a little bit more relaxed than she was.
“She’s just become a four-year-old mare so we just need to keep her in the right races.
“Just keep her in mares’ grade. She’s fallen short when we’ve run her up in grade so we’re not going to get too ambitious with her.
“With her rating, she basically races in every black type mares’ race over 1200m, so we’ll just feel our way with her.”
Secret Agenda has now posted an impressive four wins and as many minors through only twelve career starts.
