Ocean Embers has returned to racing in slick form this time and remains an outright $5 favourite in 2016 Cockram Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Don’t Doubt Mamma and Telopea; tied on the second line at $7.50 quotes.

Will Ocean Embers justify favouritism and win the 2016 Cockram Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Thames Court ($11)

Consistent galloper Thames Court is a proven first-up performer and should prove extremely tough to beat in the Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes first-up. Ending a standout debut campaign last spring a credible third in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (1600m), Thames Court resumed this year for a classy and comfortable two length win in the City Jeep Cherokee BM64 (1200m) on March 14th. Breaking through for a maiden black type win in the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes (1600m), the Commands mare failed to fire in the Listed Laelia Stakes (1600m) and was returned to the paddock. Allocated the ideal barrier 6, Ryan Maloney will take the ride in the Cockram Stakes.

2nd

Don’t Doubt Mamma ($7.50)

Don’t Doubt Mamma has been a strong and consistent performer for Tony McEvoy through her entire racing career so far, and represents terrific value at current $7.50 Cockram Stakes odds, or $2.85 to finish in the first three. Claiming five wins and a further four minors through thirteen competitive appearances, the Not A Single Doubt mare resumed this year for an impressive win the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) on February 20th. Progressing to second in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m), Don’t Doubt Mamma returned to winning form in the Listed Redelva Stakes (1100m) but was sent for a spell after failing to make an impact in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m). Don’t Doubt Mamma has been charged with carrying 57kgs, but undoubtedly has the class to win the Cockram Stakes.

3rd

Jessy Belle ($11)

Jessy Belle will have her first run for Lindsay Park in the 2016 Ladbrokes Cockram Stakes and is more than worth consideration for a bet at current odds. The stable star for Luke Oliver, Jessy Belle posted a number of typically smart results through the recent autumn and winter carnivals; peaking with third place finishes in each of the Listed Sunshine Coast Ascot Handicap (1200m) and Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) and a credible fifth in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m). Michael Walker will take the ride on the Rock Of Gibraltar mare from barrier 8.
