Press Statement has remained a resounding $1.45 favourite in 2016 Randwick Guineas betting markets with leading online bookie [labdrokes] this week, ahead of Stay With Me ($7.50) and Montaigne ($9.50).

Will Press Statement justify his resounding favouritism and win the 2016 Randwick Guineas or will one of his talented rivals cause the day’s big upset?

Press Statement ($1.45)

Undefeated at the distance, Press Statement has returned to racing in typically slick form this time and will be very hard to beat in the 2016 Randwick Guineas. Winning the Group 1 JJ Atkins (1600m) in only his third competitive start last year, Press Statement resumed for second in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) and while failing to fire in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m), responded in the best way possible with consecutive wins in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes (1500m) and Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m). Having savaged the line for success in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) a fortnight ago, the Hinchinbrook colt will again be partnered by Hugh Bowman in the Randwick Guineas.

Montaigne ($9.50)

The Anthony Cummings-trained Montaigne made a commendable transition to black type racing for third in the Hobartville Stakes last time and is positioned ideally in barrier 3 to improve once more in the 2016 Randwick Guineas. Running second in a Warwick Farm minor over 1100m on debut on January 7^th, Montaigne won each of the More Than Just Winning Maiden (1400m) and Colin Tidy Tribute BM78 (1600m) leading into the Hobartville Stakes. Jason Collett retains the ride on the Road To Rock gelding for the Randwick Guineas.

Stay With Me ($7.50)

Stay With Me is the only filly in the Randwick Guineas field this year, will leave from barrier 5 and will carry a race-low 54.5kgs. Resuming in spring for success in a Pakenham minor over 1200m, Stay With Me beat a talented field to the line in the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) on September 5^th. While failing to fire when sixth in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m), the Street Cry filly charged home to win the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) on October 10^th before placing sixth in the Group 1 Myer Classic (1600m). Stay With Me has built to the task through two starts this time and should be right in the finish on Saturday.
