Tarzino was a standout performer for Mick Price through the recent Spring Carnival and is reportedly on track for a competitive return in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 14th.

Tarzino stamped himself as a colt to follow when debuting to racing for a credible third in a Pakenham minor over 1380m on July 5th but continued to improve drastically over increasing distances; capping his campaign with a resounding win in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington on October 31st.
Price confirmed the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) in Sydney during The Championships is the major autumn target for the Tavistock colt but revealed the 2016 CF Orr Stakes will figure as his launch pad.
“He’s great, he’s thriving and his work is good,” Price told Racing Ahead.
“He’s not supposed to be fit yet but he’s going over 1000m and he seems pretty fit and forward – I suppose that’s what good horses do.
“He may trial on the 1st of February at Geelong and I’m going to run him first-up in the Orr.
“He’ll then go three weeks into the Australian Guineas and then he’s off to Sydney.”
Breaking through for a maiden race win in the Slick Pix Maiden Plate (1400m) at Ballarat in only his second start on August 27th, Tarzino repeated the dose in style when debuting in the city for success in the Cove Hotel Handicap (1600m) at Caulfield on September 19th.
Running on for a credible seventh amongst some of the country’s best three-year-olds in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on October 10th, Tarzino savaged the line for third in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) in his only other start prior to the Victoria Derby.
Following the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington, Tarzino will head north for an appearance in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) a fortnight prior to the Australian Derby.
Tarzino is currently rated a $5 chance in early 2016 Australian Derby betting markets.
