My Poppette Tops Moonee Valley Fillies Classic 2015 Odds

Drawn the rails in a small nine-starter field for the third on Cox Plate Day at Moonee Valley this Saturday, the Robert Smerdon-trained My Poppette has opened top of the 2015 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic odds this spring.

My Poppette

The three-year-old daughter of Snippetson is set to jump from barrier one with Mark Zahra in the saddle for Moonee Valley Race 3 – the $200,000 Group 2 Alliance Brooking Services Fillies Classic (1600m) – and is shooting for her first win since the Listed Anzac Day Stakes (1400m) at Flemington back in late April.

In that run she defeated subsequent Caulfield Guineas runner-up Lizard Island, and is now leading Moonee Valley Fillies Classic betting for her fourth run this time in.

At Ladbrokes.com.au, who are offering an Extra 50% on your very first Fixed Odds winner in Races 1 – 5 at Moonee Valley on Saturday, My Poppette is the $3.60 top fancy following a last start third in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) at Flemington over the same distance on October 4.

In an open market four of her rivals are also under double figures for the win including the market mover Silent Sedition ($4.80).

Drawn a treat in barrier three for top hoop Craig Williams, the progressive Andrew Noblet-trained maiden has her fourth career run and first at Moonee Valley looking for a breakthrough win as she makes her black-type debut.

She hasn’t finished out of the money as yet however and caught the eye when third to Andrioli over 1400m on Caulfield Cup Day last Saturday with the step up to a mile set to suit the progressive War Chant filly.

Occupying the third line of betting at an equal quote of $5 are Don’t Doubt Mamma and Sempre Libera drawn in barriers six and nine respectively.

Tony McEvoy trains Not A Single Doubt filly Don’t Doubt Mamma, the Adelaide raider shooting for her third win at start number eight.

She won over 1400m at Caulfield two back defeating the current 2015 Crown Oaks favourite Sacred Eye before a last start sixth in the Edward Manifold she’ll be out to improve on this weekend now she’s been up over the 1600m.

Sempre Libera has the outside alley for jockey Damien Oliver to overcome this weekend, the Gai Waterhouse-trained daughter of Medaglia D’Oro also heading towards the $1 million Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

She has won just one of her six starts to date back in her Rosehill debut in early April and was last seen crossing eighth to stablemate Speak Fondly in Randwick’s Group 1 Flight Stakes (16009m) at the start of the month in Sydney.

Saturday she runs in Melbourne for the first time and while appreciating the step back in class, Sempre Libera must handle the other way of racing.

Other notable fillies in the markets at more generous odds after an upset Moonee Valley Fillies Classic result include the lightly-raced Commands filly Thames Court ($9) who ran fifth in the Edward Manifold last time out and Air Apparent ($13) prepared by the in-form Lindsay Park trainers David Hayes & Tom Dabernig.
