The 2014 Warwick Stakes betting market has changed significantly this morning following the scratching of early favourite Messene from the Group 2 event at Royal Randwick this afternoon.
Messene opened as a clear favourite in the 2014 Warwick Stakes betting market at Ladbrokes, but Team Hawkes have elected not to run the son of Lonhro on the heavy Royal Randwick surface after he failed to fire on a wet surface in the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) during the 2014 Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
The scratching of Messene has made the 2014 Warwick Stakes an even tougher race for punters, but leading online bookmaker Ladbrokes.com.au is giving punters some insurance by refunding bets placed on the horse that finishes second in the Group 2 event!
The new favourite in 2014 Warwick Stakes betting markets is Chris Waller-trained Sacred Falls, who is now into a quote of $3.40 to take out the $175,000 race.
Sacred Falls is a proven performer on wet tracks, winning the past two edition of the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) on heavy surfaces and trainer Chris Waller believes that the O’Reilly entire is in the best condition of his career heading into the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival.
Weary is another Waller-trained galloper that has good form on rain affected surfaces and he has been backed into 2014 Warwick Stakes odds of $3.80 following the scratching of Messene.
The imported galloper resumed with a promising fifth place finish behind Sweet Idea in the Group 2 Missile Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on August 9 and he will have a fitness edge over the majority of his rivals in the Warwick Stakes.
Royal Descent finished second behind Sacred Falls in the Doncaster Mile and the Group 1 winning mare has impressed onlookers with strong barrier trials at Rosehill Gardens on August 4 and Warwick Farm on August 15.
The Redoute’s Choice mare has not recorded a race win since he romped home on a heavy 10 in the Group 1 Australasian Oaks (2400m), but has been backed into Warwick Stakes odds of $4.50.
Tiger Tees is another galloper that will have a fitness edge in the Warwick Stakes and he is rated a $5 chance to record his second straight win this afternoon.
The Dubawi gelding was too strong for the rest of the field in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200) at Flemington on August 9 and he is a proven wet tracker, having won the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) on a rain affected surface during the autumn.
Australian Derby winner Criterion ($7.50) is another galloper that has good wet track form, while there has not been much support for 2013 Queensland Derby winner Hawkspur ($14) and veteran gelding My Kingdom Of Fife ($71).
Give yourself some insurance in the Warwick Stakes by backing your selection at Ladbrokes.com.au!
All bets placed on the runner-up will be refunded in the form of a free bet, while new punters with the leading online bookmaker can score a free bet worth up to $250!
