Having jumped fairly, Red Tracer settled just behind early leader Longport and A Time For Julia, holding good position rounding the final bend before showing an incredible turn of foot to explode from the pack and comfortably stroll in for her third-straight Millie Fox Stakes title.
Trainer Chris Waller was very happy with the way Red Tracer returned to the track in the Millie Fox Stakes, and outlined the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) on April 19th as the major target for the exciting six-year-old, with a possible assault on Europe to follow.
“She’s won it three years in a row now and I think today was her 13 listed or group win out of the 15 wins she has had. She’s a great horse” Waller said.
“There’ll be a lot of improvement from today and that’s always a good thing.
“Realistically her aim this autumn will be the Queen Of The Turf right at the end of the carnival over a tough Randwick mile, weight for age and it should be her race if we can hold her up and get her there.
“That will say whether she can go to Europe.”
Waller said he believes the talented Dane Shadow mare has returned stronger and tougher with each proceeding preparation, particularly since the start of her memorable 2013 campaign.
“Her form would say she’s become tougher” he added.
“Those two Group 1 wins (2014 Tattersall’s Tiara, 2013 Myer Classic) were pretty dominant; she didn’t beat Catkins by much but Catkins has come back so well.
“I just think she’s gone to a new level.”
Jockey Nash Rawiller delivered a sensational ride on Red Tracer in the Millie Fox Stakes and believes the talented mare is “in her own league”.
“I just love her to bits; she hasn’t let me down yet” Rawiller said immediately after dismounting.
“Jimmy (Cassidy) sort of slipped up inside us there before the corner and she thought it was game on.
“I just wanted to hold her for that extra furlong, but she loves these conditions and she just has a massive class over most of her competitors.
“I was expecting Royal Descent to be having the last shot at her, but it just shows her dominance over these 1200 to a mile; she’s just in her own league.
“I’m very happy to see her come back like that.”
