Pepperwood Wins 2013 Coffs Harbour Cup – Race Results

Pepperwood has made it back to back wins of the Coffs Harbour Cup, after winning the 2013 edition of the race in impressive style this afternoon.

The nine-year-old gelding broke a long standing winning drought with his gutsy 2013 Coffs Harbour win, which has taken his career prize money to over $1 million.

Pepperwood is trained at Eagle Farm Racecourse by Liam Birchley and has been one of the trainer’s most solid stable performers since being purchased from the 2006 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $38,000.

But the Easy Rocking gelding has failed to fire in recent times, with his best result since last year’s Coffs Harbour Gold Cup being a second placing in the Listed $80,000 Tattersall’s Mile at Doomben last month.

Today, however, Pepperwood came into his own and put away the rest of the field in the final straight.

With the help of top jockey Glen Colless, Pepperwood was able to outrun his competitors and take out the $80,000 race.

Pepperwood won the race by two lengths ahead of Single Sprint, who finished second, and Prince Of Capers, who rounded out the placings in third.
