The 2011 Gold Coast Guineas has attracted a field of 16 however according to punters it may as well be a two horse race.
Spirit Of Boom and Ready To Rip are the only horses being shown any interest in the early morning betting markets and they’ve put a big gap back to the rest of the field.
Ready To Rip comes into the race with huge wraps and expert tipsters across the country have been almost unanimous in their praise for the three-year-old.
He won in convincing fashion first up this year and after drawing barrier one there’s no shortage of money saying he can do it again.
The most you could get for him was $3.80 at one stage but that’s been snapped up, now into a $3.50 fixed quote.
The only other horse offering any resistance at the moment is Spirit Of Boom.
He’s had a much longer campaign but has mixed it with the top class and his results have been promising.
He won two starts back and backed it up with a third placing in his previous run so he’s a horse to certainly watch out for.
Barrier six won’t cause any issues and if anything could offer him a little more space than Ready To Rip and that’s something punters have noticed.
After opening at $6.50 he’s only gone in one direction, easily the market mover of the field at the moment into a $4.80 fixed quote.
You could throw a blanket over the rest of the field with Flokkati the only other mount into single figures.
There’s no guarantees that’s where the odds will stay though with an opening price of $7.50 snubbed by punters and it’s drifting out rapidly, now at $9.00.
It’s a similar story for the perennial bridesmaid Liesele which after being floated at $6.50 couldn’t field a bit and is now into double figures.
If you’re looking for value the pick of them could be Skating On Ice at $16.
Jumps from wide in gate 13 but was on an impressive winning streak until last start when he just fell short finishing second, definitely worth a look at big odds with most punters ignoring him.
