Brazilian Pulse is the early favourite in the 2011 Australian Oaks odds

Futures betting for the 2011 Australian Oaks has opened at bookmakers around the country with last year’s Crown Oaks winning filly Brazilian Pulse installed as the early favourite for the showdown running at Randwick’s Doncaster Mile Day on Saturday April 16.

The $550,000 Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) is one of three Group 1 features running at the Royal Randwick on the day along with the marquee event, the $2 million Doncaster Mile (1600m) and the $350,000 Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m).

Ninety-four fillies were nominated for this year’s Australian Oaks and Brazilian Pulse is the current $6.50 favourite to win through Luxbet.

First-up for the season the Michael Moroney-trained daughter of Captain Rio ran a game second to Do Ra Mi in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (1400m) and will only improve with more distance.

Winner of the Kewney Stakes, the Peter Moody-trained Do Ra Mi is currently paying a very generous $15 in the early Australian Oaks odds through Luxbet.

Other Top Fancies in the 2011 Australian Oaks Futures Odds Include:

  • Shamrocker ($9 Luxbet) – Crown Oaks runner-up last season, Danny O’Brien’s filly was the upset winner of the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) against open company on March 5
  • Rose Of Peace ($11 Luxbet) – Gary Portelli-trained Hussonet filly most recently ran a game third to Parables in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m)
  • Southern Speed ($11 Luxbet) – Smart South Australian filly won the Group 3 The Mittys Vanity (1400m) at Flemington in her interstate debut before finishing seventh in the Australian Guineas and then second last start back in Morphettville

Punters that get in now and jump on the Australian Oaks odds at Luxbet can get great prices on a number of other star fillies including the Greg Eurell-trained Pinker Pinker ($15) who won the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) and Group 3 Schweppervescence Trophy (1600m) back-to-back this season and Peter Snowden’s Kewney Stakes third placegetter Divorces ($17).

The 2011 Patinack Farm Australian Oaks final field is due for release on Wednesday April 13 and we here at Races.com.au will be the first to publish the list of acceptors so stay tuned.
