Colour Correct remains the favourite to win this Saturday’s $1 million Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot Racecourse, but has been a slight drifter in the betting markets.
In-form gelding Colour Correct has drifted out from $4.60 to $4.80 through Luxbet to win the 2010 Railway Stakes over the past 12 hours, but is still the shortest-priced contender.
Drawn well in barrier seven and coming off two great stakes wins at the track, Colour Correct has the positioning, pace and experience to take this out.
The majority of the other runners in the Railway Stakes field have also drifted out slightly since their prices yesterday including defending champion Sniper’s Bullet ($8 – $9), Chris Waller’s Triple Honour ($11 – $13) and R.J. Peters Stakes winner God Has Spoken ($9.50 – $10).
The biggest market firmer in the past day has been for consistent mare For Your Eyes Only back to their opening quote of $21 after drifting right out to $31, the four-year-old coming off successive third place finishes in the Group 3 Prince of Wales Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Lee Steere Stakes (1400m).
Second elect in the Railway Stakes odds, John Thompson’s Tale Of The Cat four-year-old Trusting hasn’t budged remaining at their opening quote of $6.50.
The other runner that’s price hasn’t fluctuated in the Railway Stakes betting markets open at Luxbet is Famous Roman sitting steady at $10.
Famous Roman has the form, ideal draw and nice weight to win on Saturday but after suffering a bleeding attack following their Lee Steere Stakes win on November 6, punters have been wary to get behind Jim Taylor’s six-year-old.
However they are coming off back-to-back stakes wins over 1400m here, have drawn barrier two and drop back in weight from 59kg in the Lee Steere to just 54kg on Saturday so there is plenty to like about Famous Roman.
