Berringama has won the second race at Caulfield Guineas Day this morning, beating home a field of classy rivals in the $70,000 Harrolds Fashion Plate (1400m).
In a beautiful ride by jockey Nicholas Hall, Berringama jumped from barrier one and was allowed to settle back off the pace and out of the pressure.
Sitting five to six lengths away from the early leaders, Berringama then rolled out when it mattered, peeling out at the top of the straight to snare victory.
On the line it was Berringama, who paid a great price of $19 at [sportsbet], finishing a long neck in front of Amaethon with John Thompson’s Tagus a further three quarters of a length away third.
Odds-on favourite Drenalin ($3) got away quick and took the early lead from Jungle Ruler.
Then, on the turn home Drenalin was under siege and when the pressure was on he dropped away to finish out of the money allowing Berringama to move up through the middle and pull away for the win.
Berringama has kept his excellent Caulfield 1400m record intact, the victory his third from 21 career starts.
The next race scheduled to take place today will be Race 3 – the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) due to jump at 1:15pm.
Currently Moudre is the favourite to win in the betting markets paying $2.40 through Sportsbet, but we are tipping Linton to cause an upset at good odds!
So get in on the Caulfield Guineas Day action by having a punt on the Herbert Power Stakes at the best possible price through [sportsbet]!
