2017 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes Field & Odds: Eshtiraak Favourite

The flying Lindsay Park-trained Eshtiraak is clear favourite in VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes 2017 betting chasing a fourth win on the trot in the ‘Super Saturday’ clash at Flemington Racecourse.

The young Street Cry colt is one of eleven two-year-olds taking to the track in Flemington Race 4 at 2:05pm (AEDT) on Saturday afternoon for this season’s $200,000 MSS Security VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).

The set weights clash serves as a nice lead-up to Sydney’s $1 million Group 1 Inglis’ Sires (1400m) at Randwick in April, a race Eshtiraak pays $26 in futures markets at Ladbrokes.com.au to win.

He is much shorter in the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes odds for the Melbourne equivalent this weekend paying $2.60 and firming to keep his winning streak going.

Damien Oliver has been aboard for the horse’s latest two wins over 1200m and 1300m respectively at Sandown-Lakeside in February and retains the ride in the Group 2 on Saturday.

Eshtiraak also came up trumps with barrier one and looks like he will eat up the extra distance in his black-type debut.

The stable has also accepted for outside hopes Feng Chu ($18) who has Joao Moreira riding and Yue Fei ($26) drawn in barriers three and eleven respectively.

Following the favourite in the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes markets are a further five single-figure hopefuls including Groundbreak ($8).

Drawn out wider in gate ten, the Hawkes Racing-trained All Too Hard colt has had two starts to date and chases a maiden win.

His latest start was over 1100m at Flemington when fourth to Ducimus in the Listed Talindert Stakes, form the bookies believe could stack up this weekend.

Undoubtable Miss ($8.50) occupies the third line of betting and should get a lovely run from barrier four.

She is also three runs into her career and the Robbie Griffiths-trained Not A Single Doubt filly comes off back-to-back seconds.

The latest saw her beaten only a quarter-length on February 15 over 1200m at Sandown-Lakeside and she will appreciate the drop to 54.5kg here as the sole filly taking on the colts and geldings in the race.

Rounding out the hopes under $10 for the win are the unbeaten John O’Shea-trained Lonhro colt Toga Picta ($9) coming off a winning debut at Wyong over 1300m, Tony McEvoy’s Group 3 winner Aspect ($9.50) out to improve on a ninth in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes and Sircconi ($9.50).

Nicconi colt Sircconi is prepared by Peter Morgan and was second past the post behind Saturday’s favourite Eshtiraak over 1300m at Sandown-Lakeside on February 22 as a $41 roughie.

He was late beaten in that run, will be fitter for it and from barrier six gets the chance to go forward at Flemington this weekend and turn the tables on his last start conqueror over the extra 100m.
