2016 Emirates Stakes Tips & Odds Update

The new-look Emirates Stakes 2016 steals the show at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday, betting tips and the latest odds for the weight-for-age classic detailed below.

Set to run as Flemington Race 7 at 4:15pm (AEDT) on the final Melbourne Cup Carnival race day, this year’s $2 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (2000m) – formerly the Mackinnon Stakes – features 13 hopefuls.

Heading the Emirates Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au at $4.20 to salute for the punters for the first time since So You Think (2010) is The United States.

This is his third run in as many weekends, but if he hasn’t peaked yet he could prove the one to beat after the close fourth when just over a length off the winner in the Group 1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) on Derby Day.

The other best in Emirates Stakes betting include the French raider Vadamos ($4.50) looking to go back-to-back for the internationals after the success of Gailo Chop (2015) last year and the British visitor Scottish ($5) dropping in distance after the Caulfield Cup second.

Earlier in the week we published out exclusive 2016 Emirates Stakes Form Guide & Betting Preview and based on the facts and stats uncovered, we’ve got the best Emirates Stakes tips to take to Ladbrokes.com.au.

Our 2016 Emirates Stakes Trifecta Tip is #5 Vadamos from #10 Vanbrugh and #12 Good Standing

1st

#5 Vadamos ($4.50)

Like the look of this in-form French horse prepared by Andre Fabre, drawn ideally mid-field (7) with Damien Oliver riding. The stallion has been super consistent both at home and in his first-up run down under when fourth in the Cox Plate. Forgive that losing margin (Winx won by a record eight lengths), and the Cox Plate has produced six of the past seven winners of this race. France stole the race last year and this galloper is doing everything right to do it again. Oliver has ridden five past winners and he’s got a top win rate (42%).

2nd

#10 Vanbrugh ($20)

Way over in Emirates Stakes odds looks to be Chris Waller’s $20 roughie Vanbrugh. A consistent four-year-old Encosta De Lago stallion, he is two-from-three over the distance including the nice win on Caulfield Cup Day over Tom Melbourne in Group 3 company. Up in class, but is a former Group 1 winner (over 2000m at Randwick last year) and has last year’s winning hoop Ben Melham aboard. Can surprise.

3rd

#12 Good Standing ($12)

The three-year-olds don’t win this race, but the James Cummings-trained Good Standing is a genuine place hope. Jumps from barrier three and comes off the Group 3 Ladbrokes Stakes (2000m) win at the distance at Caulfield. In flying form and looking his best over these meters. After a double not achieved since 2003, but is drawn to get the run of the race.
