2010 Crown Oaks First Acceptances & Betting Lead by Shamrocker

Thirty three-year-old fillies remain in contention for the 2010 Crown Oaks on Thursday November 4 after first acceptances were taken for the Melbourne Cup Carnival feature by Racing Victoria yesterday.

The number of fillies vying for a spot in the 16-horse final field for the $1 million Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) was cut from 89 to just 30 at the first declaration stage, with Shamrocker emerging as the new odds-on favourite.

The Danny O’Brien-trained Shamrocker is now paying $5 to win the 2010 Crown Oaks at [sportsbet], followed closely by Thousand Guineas winner Yosei at $5.50.

Other leading fillies paid up for yesterday that are dominating the Crown Oaks betting markets include Lee Freedman’s impressive Caulfield Cup Day winner Dizlago at $6 and slight drifter Brazilian Pulse out from $6 to $8.50.

Fifty-nine fillies have been withdrawn from the Crown Oaks field since the nomination stage, with notable defectors including Pinker Pinker and Ringa Ringa Rosie after the pair ran a disappointing seventh and 13th respectively in the Thousand Guineas last start.
