Maurus has only continued to firm through the last 48 hours and now figures as clear $2.45 favourite in 2016 Ipswich Cup betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Maurus has been a strong and consistent performer for David Vandyke through his entire racing career so far; posting five wins and a further seven minors through only sixteen competitive starts.

Returning to racing this year for second in the Ranvet BM92 (1500m) on February 20th, the Medicean gelding progressed to third amongst classy company in the Listed Randwick City Stakes (2000m) before receiving a freshen-up.

Savaging the line for a comfortable win in the Windsor Management Insurance Brokers Handicap (2200m) upon debuting to Brisbane racing on April 30th, Maurus ran a credible fifth in the Group 1 Doomben Cup (2000m) most recently and will relish a step back in class to the Ipswich Cup.

Puccini and Dance Of Heroes have both received some interest in 2016 Ipswich Cup betting markets and remain locked on the second line at generous $5.50 quotes.

A Group 1 winner having taken out the 2014 edition of the New Zealand Derby (2400m), Puccini returned to racing for a credible third in the Group 3 TAB Rewards Stakes (1400m) on March 5th but failed to make anything of an impact when tenth in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) the following week.

Placing fourth in each of the Group 3 Easter Cup (2000m) and Listed Mornington Cup (2400m), the Encosta De Lago entire failed to beat a single running home in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) but again responded with an impressive performance for second in the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2200m).

Fading in the late stages of the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2400m) last weekend, Puccini will enjoy a step back in class and distance in the Ipswich Cup but will undoubtedly require some luck in running with a race-high 59.5kgs in tow.

Dance Of Heroes undoubtedly faces a step up in class into the Ipswich Cup field but has posted a number of good results this time and has earned a position in black type company.

Running seventh in a Rosehill minor over 1500m first-up on April 23rd, Dance Of Heroes ran on for fifth in the Listed Wagga Cup (2000m) on May 6th before charging home to win the Leilani And Luskin Star BM89 (2000m) on May 21st.

Luckless when fifth in the Harvey Norman BM84 (1800m) on May 28th, the Danehill Dancer gelding is drawn well and weighted for success in the Ipswich Cup.
