Holler Ready for 2016 Diamond Jubilee Stakes

Holler figures as Australia’s sole representative as this year’s Royal Ascot Carnival, and trainer John O’Shea is pleased with the way the three-year-old has taken to work in the lead-up to this weekend’s Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (1207m).

Holler delivered a talented and open field a comfortable defeat in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley upon resuming this year, but was completely luckless when fifth in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes (1400m) upon returning to his own age group three weeks later.

Producing a career-best performance to claim a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) on March 5th, the Commands colt placed an agonisingly-close second in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) most recently on March 24th.

Holler completed a strong piece of work at Newmarket earlier this week, and O’Shea told The Herald Sun he is pleased with the colt leading into the 2016 Diamond Jubilee Stakes this weekend.

“Holler went well this morning over six furlongs and he is looking on track for Royal Ascot on Saturday,” O’Shea said.

“He has had a nice preparation since arriving in Newmarket and appears to have met the challenges of the undulating ground and the straight run having worked three times over the last couple of weeks.

“We are happy enough at this stage with his preparation and we are looking forward to Saturday’s race.”

Holler has posted an impressive four wins and five minors through eleven career starts so far, and appears as though he will relish the unique conditions of the 1207m Royal Ascot course in the 2016 Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

Making a credible transition to black type company when third in the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) in the early stages of the 2015 Spring Carnival, Holler failed to beat a single runner home in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) but responded well in placing second in the Listed Gothic Stakes (1400m) and winning the Group 3 Red Anchor Stakes (1200m).

Ladbrokes.com.au is currently displaying the best 2016 Diamond Jubilee Stakes odds, for which Holler can be taken at a generous quote of $11 for success.
