The race towards the $6 million Ladbrokes Cox Plate steps up a notch with a key 2000m Caulfield feature on Saturday, and Races.com.au have our insider Might And Power 2026 predictions, preview and betting tips for the $1 million showdown right here.

Formerly the Caulfield Stakes, the Group 1 Might And Power field features a diminutive line-up of just six middle-distance gallopers this Caulfield Guineas Day with super mare Sheza Alibi scaring away the bulk of her rivals.
One of the two best mares in the country right now, the Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained Saxon Warrior four-year-old has proved a marvel for the stable winning eight from 12 to date and firmly stamping herself as a champion miler.
She’s bagged a trio of elite level wins over 1600m already having done the Randwick Guineas – Doncaster Mile double in Sydney as a filly in the autumn before improving on her game but distant Winx Stakes second to Autumn Glow when travelling south for the Makybe Diva at her latest.
Phenomenal at Flemington beating Autumn Boy home in that by nearly three lengths, she’ll have zero issues stretching out in distance at one of her pet tracks now.
Sheza Alibi has a terrific Caulfield strike-rate, faces just five rivals and the way she hit another level to charge home with authority at her latest explain her prohibitive $1.35 offering in the latest Might And Power odds at Ladbrokes.
The danger and only horse the bookies see as a genuine threat to Sheza Alibi collecting her fourth Group 1 on Saturday is the Chris Waller-trained Birdman ($3.70) who comes off his own impressive lead-up victory at the top level.
With an eye on the Ladbrokes Cox Plate on October 24, the consistent six-year-old improved on his sixth fresh at 40/1 over the unsuitably short Memsie Stakes to score an eye-catching 1.75 length win in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) when powering over the top of Cosmic Crusader with ease.
The form of that was franked last weekend with the runner-up taking out the Turnbull Stakes in style, which bodes well for Birdman also up in trip now this weekend.
His last run at 2000m could not have been better winning Brisbane’s Doomben Cup over the winter by a runaway margin, he’s hitting his peak at the right time, and he’s got the turn of foot to match motors and perhaps make Sheza Alibi sweat a little the closing stages.
The early Might And Power market mover into $10 now is another smart mare, Treasurethe Moment, with Matt Laurie’s Alabama Express five-year-old lining-up as the Caulfield specialist in the mix (8:4-2-1).
She’s winless since March, but after things went amiss for her in the Makybe Diva in an uncharacteristically flat performance to cross last, she was quick to bounce back when second to Pride Of Jenni here in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes.
Kingswood meanwhile is the next best at $14 Might And Power odds with Ladbrokes and the lead-up runs from the Gavin Bedggood-trained Group 1 winner across the Tasman is hard to knock.
He took out the Zabeel Classic over this distance last Boxing Day in New Zealand, was a first-up Black-Type winner at Caulfield at huge odds in late August and lost few admirers when fourth in the Underwood.
Maher’s rails-drawn stayer Land Legend ($91) who is just ticking over ahead of the Caulfield Cup and last year’s Caulfield Cup champ Torranzino ($101) having only his second start since finishing fifth in the 2026 Melbourne Cup results complete the field.
The 2026 Might And Power is scheduled as Caulfield Race 7 at 3:50pm (AEDT) on the bumper 10-race Caulfield Guineas Day card.
