2014 WA Guineas Odds: Disposition Clear Favourite

Grant Williams’ undefeated local three-year-old Disposition is the red hot favourite in futures WA Guineas 2014 betting markets ahead of the November 22 showdown at Ascot Racecourse.

The son of Reset is one 70 youngsters nominated for Saturday week’s lucrative $400,000 Group 2 W.A. Guineas (1600m), the set weights clash a major support race on the Railway Stakes Day program in Perth.

In the futures WA Guineas odds at Ladbrokes.com.au Williams’ gelding is at a short $2.40 to win and retain a flawless record that goes back to a blistering three and a half length win on debut at Northam over 1000m on September 21.

Jockey William Pike gave the up-and-comer a great ride that day and has ridden him for two of his subsequent three wins.

Two back the progressive galloper was ridden by Brad Parnham for an impressive two and a half length win over Fuld’s Bet in the Listed Belgravia Stakes (1200m), his first black type assignment.

Then last Saturday back at Ascot he relished the step up to 1400m and won another stakes race this time beating home Rommel by a length with Pike back in the saddle for the Listed Fairetha Stakes.

There is just one other nominee under double figures in the current WA Guineas betting markets with the Trevor Andrews-trained Outlaw Pete paying $6.

The Oratorio gelding has won three of his five starts to date, most recently over 1200m at Ascot on October 18, but was disappointing when eighth to Disposition in the Fairetha Stakes last time out.

He does however have winning form over a mile from Belmont Park in August and so could be the improver going into the Guineas.

The third line of betting is then occupied by Lou Luciani’s Fairetha Stakes fourth placed Tonto ($11) who won four on the trot before that.

Things then open right up with a logjam of three-year-olds all under $20 to win.

Five are paying $13 currently with Fairetha Stakes third placegetter Cuanzo who was also third to Disposition in the Belgravia Stakes, the Peter Moody-trained Ducal Castle with black Type Melbourne form around some nice types including a Hilton Stakes third on Emirates Stakes Day at Flemington, the best fancied filly of the nominees Furious Dame, Group 2 Karrakatta Plate winner and Group 3 WA Sires’ Produce Stakes third placed colt Hobart Jones, and Sebring filly Silver Magic Ships.

Other notable WA Guineas fancies include the Grant Williams-trained Burgess Queen Stakes winner Ideal Image and his third placed Al Maher filly Delicacy, Prete A Partir who was runner-up in the same race, and Mastercraftsman colt Say Geronimo all at $15 to win.
