One of two Group features on the program, this year’s $125,000 Group 3 APHS Gunsynd Classic (1600m) is set to run as Eagle Farm Race 6 at 3:15pm (AEST).

There are 14 hopefuls in the mix, the top-rated of which is Red Dazzler gelding Rudy shooting for their third win on the trot.

The consistent runner has posted five wins from their 10 starts to date, including back-to-back Doomben wins over the past month.

Their latest effort was in a three-year-olds’ set weights clash from April 12 over 1350m where they defeated Friendly Dragon and Olympic Anthem.

On Saturday they’ve drawn ideally in gate four with apprentice hoop Tegan Harrison retaining her association as Rudy steps up to the mile for the first time.

There are a number of flying three-year-olds also coming into the Gunsynd Classic on the back of multiple wins this year including the Rob Heathcote-trained Hopfgarten.

Set to jump from the visitor’s gate 14 here, well-bred Mossman gelding Hopfgarten has won their past three straight and is out to make it a quartet.

Their two most recent have been over 1400m and 1500m respectively at Eagle Farm, one run on a Heavy (9) the other on a Good (3).

They’ve handled each run to perfection, can handle any kind of ground and going up another 100m for the 1600m for this looks ideal.

The other gallopers coming off dual wins are then the Bede Murray-trained interstate raider Darci Magic last seen winning over the Warwick Farm mile in the mud, Trevor Bailey’s Street Cry gelding Avalanches who comes off successive 1800m wins at the Gold Coast, Lucky Lurce and Cruz By in gate 13 for local horseman Brian Smith.

Other notable hopes then include John Thompson’s last start Sunshine Coast winner Always A Gibberer and the Gillian Heinrich-trained Oratorio filly Shiraz Attack last seen running fourth to Rudy at Doomben two weeks back.
