Hay List Accepted for 2013 The Galaxy Field

Despite announcing Hay List as a likely non-acceptor with their 59.5kg topweight, trainer John McNair has accepted the ace sprinter for The Galaxy 2013 at Sydney’s Rosehill Guineas Day this Saturday.

One of a capacity 14 starters plus four emergencies accepted for this year’s $350,000 Group 1 Canterbury BMW Galaxy (1100m), running as Rosehill Gardens Race 7 at 4:10pm (AEST) on Easter Saturday, Statue Of Liberty seven-year-old Hay List will be second-up off a year-long break should they start in the classic.

First-up off their injury enforced break the triple Group 1 winner ran fourth to Snitzerland, who he will meet again in The Galaxy, in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Warwick Farm on March 16.

There is a chance McNair will still withdraw Hay List from Saturday’s race however after they not only were slapped with the big weight but have also drawn awkwardly with barrier 14, into 10 if all four emergencies fail to gain a start.

Following Hay List in the BMW Galaxy field and weights is then the John O’Shea-trained Sea Siren (56kg) who has drawn ideally with barrier two for her resuming run.

The four-year-old Fastnet Rock mare, winner of the Manikato Stakes during the spring, hasn’t run since their failed ninth to Lord Kanaloa in the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint at Sha Tin back in December.

Also high up the weights are then Clarry Conners’ smart five-year-old Decision Time (55kg) with gate 12 coming off a second to track record breaker Snitzerland in the Challenge, and the defending The Galaxy winner Temple Of Boom (55kg) to be ridden by Hugh Bowman from barrier 10 (7 without emergencies).

Challenge Stakes winner Snitzerland meanwhile has also drawn double-digits in The Galaxy barriers with gate 11, the Gerald Ryan-trained Snitzel filly looking to score her first Group 1 victory.

Other notable hopes then include the Jason Warren-trained Bel Sprinter (barrier 15), Challenge Stakes third placed Howmuchdoyouloveme (barrier three) and Peter Moody’s four-year-old Golden Archer (barrier four) looking to bounce back after a distant 11th in the Challenge Stakes.

The emergencies sweating on a scratching to gain a start are then consistent Cranbourne galloper Unpretenious, Bob Hoystead winner Isabella Snowflake, Fire Thunderbolt and She’s A Fox.
