Ginga Dude Is Tattersall’s Cup 2012 Winner – Race 6 Results

Ginga Dude has won the Group 3 Tattersall’s Cup at Eagle Farm Racecourse today June 23, 2012.

The eight-year-old veteran proved he was still at the top of his game to win the $200,000 Tattersall’s Cup in what was his final run for the winter.

Ginga Dude won the race ahead of Booming, who put in a late charge down the outside to finish second, and Warrior Within, who placed third.

Trainer Graeme Boyd couldn’t hide his pleasure after the race was won.

“He’s been knocking on the door. It’s very exciting,” Boyd said.

“Hugh (Bowman) just rode him so beautifully, he’s just a master.”

Ginga Dude finished fifth in the Listed Ipswich Cup last start after striking interference during the race.

Boyd felt the effort pointed to a good performance in today’s 2012 Tattersall’s Cup.

“(It was a) very good run. (He) got a nasty bump on the corner of course,” he said.

“I must say this is a surprise today though.”

Ginga Dude will now be prepared for a spring campaign, with a possible first-up run in the Wyong Cup in September.

“He goes to the paddock tomorrow,” Boyd said.

“I’ll go back to Coffs Harbor and prepare him on the beach there and bring him back to Sydney for the spring,

“I’ll just give him 3 or 4 weeks off.

“Maybe the Wyong cup (will be his first assignment), I don’t know. We’ll just see what weight he gets.”

Ginga Dude has now won 15 of his 53 race starts and has earned close to $1.2 million in prize money.
