A second city win in the space of just three weeks could be on the cards for Gold Coast-based trainer Bryan Guy as he prepares to saddle up his Premier’s Cup winner Shuffle The Cash in this weekend’s Ipswich Cup.

Dash For Cash six-year-old Shuffle The Cash scored their 10^th career win from 45 starts back on May 28, the gallant grey beating home a crack field including runner-up Tinseltown by a minimum margin of nearly two lengths in the Group 3 Premier’s Cup (2200m) at Doomben.

“He’s never gone better,” Guy said of Shuffle The Cash after the win.

At their next start Shuffle The Cash couldn’t quite reproduce the same blistering run as in the Premier’s Cup, the horse still managing to finish a convincing fifth to upset winner Tullamore in the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2400m) at Eagle Farm last Saturday.

Guy is now confident Shuffle The Cash can bounce back against a less intense field on Saturday when they line up in barrier 12 of 15 for the $200,000 Listed Ipswich Cup (2150m).

Shuffle The Cash is the current $6.50 second elect for the Ipswich Cup behind equal $4.20 favourites The Hombre and Arcenciel.

Despite being disappointed with the hefty 56kg Shuffle The Cash has been allocated for the Ipswich scuttle, Guy made the decision to give the galloper a quick back up and the chance to add another black-type to their record.

Originally Guy planned to run Shuffle The Cash in either the Brisbane Cup or Ipswich Cup, not both, but with the horse in career best form the portly trainer has decided to strike while the iron is hot.

“He’s such a pleasure to have in the stable,” Guy said.

Last year’s Rockhampton Cup winner, Shuffle The Cash carried just 54kg to victory in the Premier’s Cup with Peter Moody’s No. 1 rider Luke Nolen aboard.

“When the moons align and things are run to suit, he’s very hard to beat,” Nolen said of Shuffle The Cash after their Premier’s Cup success.

Nolen also rode Shuffle The Cash in the Brisbane Cup, but Eddie Wilkinson will take over riding duties on the horse for the Ipswich Cup on Saturday.
