Echoes Of Heaven hasn’t had a lot of luck so far in Brisbane and unfortunately that looks like continuing into the Grand Prix Stakes at Doomben tomorrow.

There’s no doubt he’s a talented horse but big weights and bad barriers have held him back from the potential connections know is there.

Trainer Mick Price is doing well to contain his frustrations  however a horror barrier draw must have tested his patience.

“He comes into 17 if the emergencies don’t run and it forces your hand on how to ride him,” he said.

With main aim still being the Queensland Darby, Price didn’t concede this weekend’s race but he did imply he’s not too concerned about a result.

“There’s no way over 2200m with a Darby two weeks later that we need to be hunting into the race,” he said.

Despite the outside problems for Echoes Of Heaven the horse itself appears to be in tremendous shape.

“We’re really happy with the colt, going well but going to need a bit of luck being out the back on a tight track,” he said.

They will also persist with the blinkers from his last run hoping that it gives the horse an extra half a stride or so at the end of his races.

“A couple of times in Adelaide Ii think he’s lost sight of being 100 percent aggressive at the line,” he said.

“If it’s a tight finish in the Darby or even Saturday it could make the difference.”

There’s also no concerns that it will make the horse too eager at the start and the jockey will still need to let the horse know when he wants him to wind up.

“He’s not going to pull, he’s a big staying colt so he’s not going to pull,” he said.
