2011 Blamey Stakes Tips & Odds – Flemington Super Saturday Betting

A cracker nine-race card featuring seven Group status events, including the $250,000 Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m), is scheduled for Flemington’s Super Saturday of Racing this weekend and here we have the top 2011 Blamey Stakes Race & Betting Tips.

The 2011 Blamey Stakes has drawn a 10-horse final field and is set to run as Flemington Race 4 at 1:15pm (AEDST) this Saturday March 12.

Whobegotyou

Mark Kavanagh-trained Whobegotyou is the 2011 Blamey Stakes favourite

Whobegotyou is the pronounced favourite in the Blamey Stakes betting odds, the weight-for-age star currently odds-on at $1.85 through Luxbet, which is the best price you will find on the Mark Kavanagh-trained five-year-old.

Undeniably the classiest runner in this year’s Blamey Stakes field, Street Cry gelding Whobegotyou resumed for the season in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on February 26.

First-up he ran a gallant second to More Joyous, beaten less than a length and will have come on from the run making him the definite pick to become the 2011 Blamey Stakes winner.

On Saturday Whobegotyou has drawn barrier 10, the same barrier he started from in the Futurity, and he drops back from 59kg that run to 58kg in the Blamey further adding to his favouritism with the punters.

The extra distance in the Blamey will also suite Whobegotyou who was flying to say the least in his late sectionals in the Futurity.

The Races.com.au team are sticking with the favourite for Flemington Race 4 and recommend backing Whobegotyou now at Luxbet before his price firms.

Flemington Race 4 Tips – 2011 Blamey Stakes Betting

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #1 Whobegotyou – Rated Special to Win – Bet now at Luxbet
  • Best Place / Exotic Bets: #5 Dao Dao, #6 Rockpecker and #8 Spacecraft

Second favourite in the Blamey Stakes markets at Luxbet paying $4.60 is #5 Dao Dao, third placegetter in the Futurity Stakes first-up.

Drawn ideally in barrier two and 3kg better in the weights than Whobegoyu, Dao Dao is also our second favourite for Saturday and we have him to come in as the Blamey Stakes runner-up.

Dao Dao was a gallant second in the Emirates Stakes last spring, the evergreen seven-year-old still in-form as shown in their Futurity run and can improve from their third place in this race last year.

This year third place will go to Rockpecker, a quality gelding that ran an eye-catching fourth to Alcopop in the Kilmore Cup last start.

Want to really clean up from your Blamey Stakes bets at Luxbet? Then try one of the great exotic bets like a First Four and add the Mick Price-trained Spacecraft into the equation.

Galileo four-year-old Spacecraft enjoyed a third place finish in the Group 2 St George Stakes last-start behind Australian Cup favourite Heart Of Dreams and has the form to run on well here.
