Neville Parnham’s impressive three-year-old colt Playing God has surpassed Kiwi filly We Can Say It Now in the 2011 Australian Guineas odds, the consistent son of Blackfriars now the clear market firmer and favourite to win this Saturday’s showdown at Flemington.
Yesterday the barrier draw for the $750,000 Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) saw dual Group 1 winner in New Zealand We Can Say It Now draw out wide in barrier 12 while Playing God secured the ideal gate three draw.
Originally retaining her favouritism in the Australian Guineas betting markets at Luxbet, We Can Say It Now is now the second-elect at $6 behind Playing God.
In the past day Playing God has firmed in from $7 to $5.50 to win the 2011 Australian Guineas through Luxbet.
A star in his him state of WA, Playing God has an ultra consistent record of six wins from his 10 career starts.
Last season he enjoyed two Group wins taking out the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) on November 13 and the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) against a classy field of older gallopers on December 4.
First-up this year Playing God continued his impressive run scoring an easy 1 ¼ length win in the Magic Millions Perth 3YO Trophy (1400m) on February 12.
Saturday will be the colt’s first run outside of Western Australia and Parnham is confident his stable frontrunner can bring his stunning form to Melbourne and take out the Australian Guineas.
