Nominations for 2011 The Mitty’s Vanity

Nominations for the 2011 The Mitty’s Vanity, one of three Group races taking place at Flemington’s Lightning Stakes Day this Saturday February 19, have been released with 13 fillies entered for the event.

The $200,000 Group 3 The Mitty’s Vanity (1400m) is a set weights plus penalties race for three-year-old fillies and a small but quality list of early entries make up this year’s nominations.

Likely to start one of the favourites in The Mitty’s Vanity betting when markets open at Luxbet is the Danny O’Brien-trained Group 2 winner Shamrocker.

Shamrocker is first-up for the season after running a gallant second to Brazilian Pulse in the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) on November 4 during the spring.

Another top pick entered for The Mitty’s Vanity is the Robbie Griffiths-trained Miss Elvee.

The Elvstroem filly ran at Caulfield last weekend finishing second behind the talented Miss Gai Flyer in the Listed Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m).

Michael Kent’s lightly-raced Redoute’s Choice filly Absolutely is set to resume racing in The Mitty’s Vanity following a three and a half week spell.

At just her second race start on October 23, Absolutely ran second to Zubbaya in the Listed Arrow Training Services Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley and will be stepping up to Group company for the first time on Saturday.

Lee Freedman has entered his Morphettville Guineas winner Becerra for the Mitty’s Vanity Stakes, the daughter of Al Maher first-up for the season after a solid spring that included a last-start sixth beaten three lengths in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) on October 3.

Leading Victorian trainer Peter Moody has two The Mitty’s Vanity nominees with Do Ra Mi seeking their third win on the trot and unbeaten Zabeel filly Lights Of Heaven who won on debut at Cranbourne by an impressive seven lengths on January 23 then backed up with a second victory at Sandown on February 9.

The 2011 The Mitty’s Vanity Stakes final field of acceptors will be published here first at Races.com.au on Wednesday followed by our exclusive race analysis and betting tips so stay tuned.
