Rain Shadow Wins Caulfield Race 1 – CF Orr Stakes Day Results
Rain Shadow has won Race 1 at Caulfield today on CF Orr Stakes Day
Starting as the favourite in the odds, Rain Shadow made the most of their inside draw and was given a beautiful ride by champion hoop Michael Rodd.
After jumping well from barrier one Rain Shadow got into a lovely trailing position on the rail, sitting back off the speed from the early leaders Apennine and Alice Alice.
The Robert Smerdon-trained Apennie, second favourite in the market, lead the field up until the turn home.
On the turn home Comocean whipped around the outside of the field and dashed to the lead ahead by a length and a half.
After getting caught up slightly at the top of the straight, Rain Shadow dug deep and gradually moved up to chase down Comocean and score victory by a neck.
The Peter Moody-trained Harmony finished three lengths away third.
Bianconi mare Rain Shadow has now won four of her 11 race starts.
The next race at Caulfield to enjoy a punt on is also the first Group event on the programme with the $125,000 Group 3 Rokk Ebony Carlyon Cup (1600m) due to jump at 1:25pm (AEDST).
