Classique Legend made up for a disappointing third at Rosehill last month to bounce-back and win the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint at Randwick on Saturday.

The Les Bridge trained three-year-old hardly broke a sweat on the drying track racing home from a wide position to win by two lengths. Jockey Kerrin McEvoy, who claimed his third Arrowfield, found the ideal spot down the straight with long $51.00 chance Jonker looming down the middle.

The gelding by Not A Single Doubt has now won three of four starts in his lightly raced career ahead of what could be a promising future ahead in Hong Kong. Saturday’s win showcased just how dazzling his turn of foot is after sitting midfield at the final turn, while McEvoy admits he wouldn’t be surprised if Classique Legend remains in Australia at least for a little while longer.

““We’re still yet to work out what his best trip is. I think he would stay a little further. There are some good sprint races here like the Golden Eagle or those other good sprint races. We’ll keep working to try and keep him here a little longer” McEvoy said.

Punters that got on board at $3.70 odds were able to relax as Classique Legend let down over the final 200m. Jockey Sam Clipperton also rode brilliantly aboard the David Atkins trained Jonker, while Avantage ran on well to finish third.

There was no such luck for Lean Mean Machine, who found himself at the rear of the field on the final turn. Encryption, ridden by Hugh Bowman, also faded late to run fourth.
