2010 Emirates Stakes Day Field

The 2010 Emirates Stakes field features a capacity number of runners with 16 horses plus four emergencies all heading towards the final Melbourne Cup Carnival feature at Flemington this Saturday.

The bookies’ favourite to win the $1 million Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) tomorrow is champion New Zealand galloper Wall Street, drawn in barrier 12 and currently paying $6.50 through Luxbet.

Coming up trumps in the Emirates Stakes field barrier draw is quality Toowoomba galloper Rothera, the last start winner of the Moonga Stakes (1400m) set to jump from the inside gate one in tomorrow’s million dollar showdown.

Drawn well and coming off back-to-back wins the Ben Currie-trained Rothera looks excellent value paying $10 to win and $3.25 to place through Luxbet.

Another Queensland runner in the Emirates Stakes field that has the ability to cause an upset and win at generous odds is Captain Sonador.

The Roger Milne-trained Shamardal four-year-old has also drawn well set to jump from barrier four in the Emirates tomorrow and is dropping back to their preferred 1600m distance that they won the Group 1 Epsom Handicap over two starts back.

Paying $9.50 (out from $9) Captain Sonador is a top pick to add into your Emirates Stakes exotic bets.

Topweight in the Emirates Stakes field this year is Black Piranha, the Con Karakatsanis-trained seven-year-old set to carry 58kg tomorrow and rated at $16 chance to win, out from their opening quote of $13.

Other early favourites in the Emirates Stakes betting include Trusting and Drumbeats both at $8, while second emergency Demerit is also at a short price of $8.50 to not only make it into the Emirates Stakes field tomorrow, but go on to win.
