Dual champion and last year’s runner-up Front Page is tipped to add to his imposing record in The Kosciuszko 2025 when Matthew Dale‘s veteran nine-year-old lines-up in yet another edition of the $2 million feature for country trained horses on The Everest Day.

One of the key support acts on Saturday’s bumper Randwick race card this weekend, The Kosciusko (1200m) has drawn another full field of New South Wales gallopers ready to line-up on the big stage and share in the richest race for non-metropolitan runners in the state.
Magnus gelding Front Page runs in the event for the fourth time chasing his third The Kosciuszko trophy after going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023.
He returned last year for a second behind Far Too Easy and has held his form since.
During the autumn he ran out of his skin for a Group 1 The Galaxy second fresh and also collected a Group 2 Moreton Cup win in Brisbane over the winter.
Not seen since his distant 16th when outclassed from a wide alley in Eagle Farm’s Stradbroke Handicap behind one of the key locals in this weekend’s $20 million The Everest field, War Machine, Front Page is a fresh flyer ready to return.
His first-up record is imposing (11:5-3-1) and he looked the goods in a recent Goulburn hit-out ahead of his shot at The Kosciusko history.
Carrying the equal 60kg topweight from gate six, his Moreton Cup winning hoop Tim Clark comes back aboard.
While he leads The Kosciuszko betting at $4.50, the likely leader will need to dig deep to hold off the late contenders if he is to go all-the-way with the hefty impost.
Second favourite in the markets following very closely at $4.80 is Clear Thinking for trainers Paul Messara & Leah Gavranich.
While widely drawn out in gate 13 for jockey Tyler Schiller to overcome, the lightly raced mare is in on just 53.5kg making her a standout threat first-up.
A four-time winner from her six career runs so far, she is undefeated fresh and gets her campaign underway over her pet trip (5:3-1-0).
She was competitive in the autumn against some good types including her Group 3 Triscay Stakes second her in mid-February and runs for the first time since a narrow fifth only two lengths off the winner Commemorative in the Group 3 Wenona Girl at this course and distance on March 8.
Brought on fitness wise with back-to-back trial wins, she’ll be sharp with the blinkers going on for her acid test and can make up ground late off a predicted strong tempo.
Three other runners are also under double figures for the win including Compelling Truth ($6.50) who is out to atone for a disappointing 12th in the race last year from the second widest alley.
The now six-year-old son of I Am Invincible is drawn far better this time round in barrier four for in-form hoop Adam Hyeronimus who is enjoying a blinder this spring carnival.
Compelling Truth brings in form around one of Chris Waller‘s The Everest contenders, Angel Capital, having finished second to that young star in the making first-up at The Valley in Listed grade.
He then took on a host more The Everest bound speedsters including the Waller trained Joliestar when dead last to her (9th) in the Group 2 The Shorts (1100m).
This is a much easier assignment now, he will relish returning to the six-furlongs (9:4-2-0) and a definite case can be made for him this time round.
Matthew Dunn‘s early market mover Without Parallel ($8) drawn a dream in gate two with Craig Williams to ride and Zac Lloyd‘s mount Gallant Star ($8.50) resuming one wider in three complete the single figure fancies.
The 2025 The Kosciuszko is set to run as Randwick Race 5 at 2:50pm (AEDT) on Saturday’s 10-event Sydney race card.
