Chris Waller‘s class galloper Lindermann delivered a commanding front-running performance to dominate the 2025 Hill Stakes results at Rosehill, giving his trainer record-extending seventh victory in the $2 million feature.

Despite drawing the outside barrier, the six-year-old son of Lonhro was expertly handled by Nash Rawiller, who took him straight to the front and controlled the tempo throughout the 1900m contest.

The pair never looked back, with Lindermann ($2.30F) kicking strongly in the straight to hold off last year’s champion Attrition ($18) and underrated Super Seth four-year-old Maison Louis ($26), who filled the placings.

Race favourite Lindermann proved too strong in the Hill Stakes handing Waller a seventh win in the event!

“He tricks you how quick he’s going,” Rawiller said.

“His biggest asset is not just his heart but also his attitude.

“He never gives up, he probably knew he was more in front than I did, to be honest, because I wasn’t sure, but he’s just a horse that keeps coming through for you.”

The win was a deserved reward for a horse that had been knocking on the door all prep.

After a narrow second to Fangirl in the $1 million 7 Stakes at his latest and a gritty Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes win over Melbourne Cup favourite Sir Delius two back, Lindermann brought elite form into the Hill Stakes and delivered in style.

“He’s been running against Fangirl and Via Sistina his last two runs,” stable rep Darren Beadman said post-win.

“He’s been running against the creme de la creme, so just that little bit of a drop back in grade today, not running against the superstars, he was really able to deliver in spades.”

The victory reaffirmed Rawiller’s strong association with the gelding.

“Nash and Lindermann have got a great affinity with each other and Nash knows him well,” Beadman said.

“He just didn’t want to set him alight too much because he could have led them very easily, but he just wanted to take his time to get across.”

Despite the wide draw, Rawiller executed the plan to perfection, rating Lindermann beautifully in front and keeping his rivals at bay.

“Once he got to the outside of the lead, just switched him off but then made a nice mid-race move to control the race,” Beadman added.

“The way that track’s riding today, it certainly suits his profile of racing.

“A horse like him, he’s such a big, bold, striding type of horse. It’s important to sort of get him into a nice rhythm, breathing well and feeling like he’s on top of the mountain.

“But he’s been such a great campaigner for the stable and for the Kepitis and Woppitt Bloodstock.”

Stablemates Kovalica and Militarize also contested the race but were unable to match Lindermann’s tempo. Kovalica ran on for fourth, while Militarize was unplaced one further back crossing fifth.

With this win, Lindermann has now earned over $2.5 million in prizemoney and could be aimed at further weight-for-age targets this spring.

He was not among the 16 third acceptors for the Group 1 $6 million Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m) earlier in the week but could potentially be aimed at Flemington’s Group 1 $3 million Champions Stakes (2000m) during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
