A talented field of the season’s top two-year-olds takes to the Caulfield track in Race 8 on Saturday for the 2025 Blue Diamond Stakes and below are our insider Blue Diamond tips and best bets on the classic.

Trainer Ciaron Maher‘s chances of securing his maiden win in the Group 1 $2 million Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) suffered a blow with Icarian Dream (7) withdrawn on vet’s advice on Friday morning after the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes winning Blue Point filly failed a reexamination.
The stable’s remaining chances are Fillies’ Prelude third placegetter Wiltshire Square who is a 25/1 outsider in the latest Blue Diamond Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au and Cherish Me.
Dominant Geelong Diamond winning Brazen Beau filly Cherish Me, who also had to be reexamined due to a minor foot issue, remains top $6 chance in the markets after being passed fit to run having shown good improvement.
Blue Diamond Stakes betting is led by Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young‘s unbeaten Prelude winning son of Deep Field, Field Of Play, at $5 chasing a hat-trick.
So, will Field Of Play salute for the punters in this year’s Blue Diamond Stakes or is there an upset pending?
Read on to find out the juveniles we’re backing and sacking in our exclusive Blue Diamond 2025 tips.
Best Bet: #Field Of Play ($4 at time of publish) – BET NOW
Crack field of two-year-olds in the Blue Diamond but happy to stick with the favourite, unbeaten Deep Field gelding Field Of Play, who is still at a nice price at $5 at time of publish. He is two-from-two to date and proven at the 1200m. Won on debut at the distance at The Valley with 58kg by over three lengths and went on to salute by a half-length in the Blue Diamond Prelude. That form has proven the superior one to follow into the Group 1. Blake Shinn retains the ride and will get a lovely run from gate five. Chasing a hat-trick and ticking plenty of boxes for favourite backers. Stable is after their second win in this race after Tagaloa in 2019 and think they’ll collect. Back don’t sack!
Best Roughie: #8 The Playwright ($14 at time of publish) – BET NOW
Really like the credentials of this Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained filly to join last year’s champion Hayasugi as the only fillies since Lyre (2019) to beat home the boys and hand the stable their first Blue Diamond trophy. She comes via the interstate form lines with her latest a narrow win fresh at Rosehill in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m). Believe the 1200m will be a non-issue after she handled herself well finishing fourth behind O’ Ole in the Gold Coast’s $3 million Magic Millions 3YO Classic. Gun barrier (3) for jockey Regan Bayliss who continues associations aboard the daughter of the 2018 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Written By. Question over how she’ll go the Melbourne way, but her and the stable are going great guns in the juvenile scene right now and she maps well as a two-time winner from four starts and building. Each Way.
The 2025 Blue Diamond Stakes is scheduled as Caulfield Race 8 at 4:15pm (AEDT).
