A couple of quality short distance specialist mares lead betting on Saturday’s 2025 Oakleigh Plate field which runs at Caulfield Racecourse as part of a bumper Blue Diamond Stakes Day card in Melbourne.

The Group 1 $750,000 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) features a smart line-up of autumn sprinters with Estriella and She’s Bulletproof leading the latest markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Ciaron Maher‘s four-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible, Estriella, is current top elect in Oakleigh Plate betting at $4.20 to win first-up from barrier nine with Blake Shinn in the saddle.
Winner of the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1000m) here with 59kg last October, Estriella was last seen running ninth down the Flemington straight in the Group 1 Champions Sprint (1200m) during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Back in distance with 55kg she looks well positioned to add to her solid first-up record (3:2-0-0) this weekend.
Marabi (2022) was the last Oakleigh Plate winning mare and there’s a host of female runners set to be the next this weekend including the airborne She’s Bulletproof for trainer Charlotte Littlefield.
The four-year-old daughter of Shooting To Win brings in some outstanding recent form having run top two in her past five starts.
She resumed at Sandown Lakeside at the start of the month to win the Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine (1200m) by nearly three lengths with 56kg.
Under the handicap conditions of the Oakleigh she drops back to just 52kg and will by flying on the lightweight from barrier eight with options for big race hoop Craig Williams.
She’s Bulletproof is the early market mover in from $7 to $5.50 Oakleigh Plate odds to handle the rise to Group 1 grade.
Despite a bumper 17-horse field there is just one other Oakleigh Plate contender currently at single figures for the win with Jimmysstar at $9.50.
Stablemate to the favourite, this Kiwi bred Per Incanto gelding has a great affinity with the Caulfield track (4:3-0-0) and plenty of versatility distance wise.
He was a narrow first-up winner in the spring at this track and trip with 56.5kg defeating the likes of Ashford Street and Rey Magnerio.
Despite a wide barrier 14 draw for jockey Ethan Brown to overcome, Jimmysstar has support.
Maher has a total of three runners in this year’s Oakleigh Plate field with his contingent rounded out by the 57kg topweight I Am Me at $12.
The six-year-old I Am Invincible mare gets the run of the race from barrier two with Nash Rawiller riding but will need to be good if she is to become the first Oakleigh Plate winner to cart more than 56.5kg to victory since Flamberge (58kg in 2016).
Robbie Griffiths‘ Group 2 Rubiton Stakes winner here on February 8 Rey Magnerio ($10) and last start Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes winning filly Arabian Summer ($11) shape up as the other value contenders with the fitness edge.
The 2025 Oakleigh Plate is set to run as Caulfield Race 9 at 4:55pm (AEDT) as the penultimate event on the 10-race Blue Diamond Stakes Day card.
