The classy Ciaron Maher-trained filly Snitzanova was too good late in the wet at Caulfield on Saturday digging deep to beat home the boys in the 2024 Sandown Guineas results.

The first of the Group status races on Zipping Classic Day, this year’s Group 2 $300,000 Sandown Guineas (1600m) saw progressive Snitzel filly finish hard the closing stages to make it a hat-trick as well as back-to-back wins over the mile.
Jockey Daniel Stackhouse picked up the late ride on the filly following the injury of Michael Dee and was able to get her into a good position in the run before joining the front runners with 200m left to go.
She hit the lead and showed plenty of fight holding on to deny Bittercreek victory with Somewhere completing the trifecta a further length back third.
Snitzanova has now won three of her four starts after successfully saluting in her first Victorian assignment.
She has showed lovely progression since her debut fifth at Rosehill in a maiden back in early October and is now a dual Group winner having also claimed Newcastle’s Group 3 Spring Stakes (1600m) on November 16.
Maher is now looking to the future with Snitzanova who could prove to be an Oaks filly next prep.
“It opens up a lot, it would be interesting whether she’d get the mile-and-a-half but we did have a Snitzel get the Geelong Classic this year, so you never know, but she’s got a bright future,” he said.
