The money keeps coming for Godolphin young gun Aft Cabin who is odds-on and firming to win the 2023 Hobartville Stakes second-up in Sydney on Saturday.

A quality field of potential Randwick Guineas-bound three-year-olds faces off in this year’s Group 2 $400,000 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) as the count down to the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival elite levels heats up this weekend.
Heading the Hobartville Stakes field and betting markets at $1.45 through Ladbrokes.com.au is the classy James Cummings-trained Astern colt Aft Cabin.
The up-and-comer took his record to three wins and two seconds from five starts first-up at Randwick with an easy win in the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m).
He now heads to Rosehill Gardens second-up and fitter for the run looking to make it three-from-three over the 1400m.
Aft Cabin is proven at the distance twice already and will have Tim Clark coming aboard in place of James McDonald who rides in Melbourne to partner Nature Strip in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) at Flemington on Saturday.
The change of hoops and wide barrier have done little to deter the punters with Aft Cabin getting all the support.
Two of his rivals are under double-figures in the latest Hobartville Stakes odds to score an upset with the rails-drawn Osipenko ($7) and the John O’Shea-trained Zou Tiger ($9) considered the dangers.
The Chris Waller-trained Pierro colt Osipenko is looking to hand the stable a third Hobartville trophy after victories by Press Statement (2016) and The Autumn Sun (2019).
He was successful on debut at Rosehill by over three and a half lengths last June at a big price, but has failed to win since.
In Caulfield last September he faced Aft Cabin in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude running over 11 lengths back seventh when failing to get through the Heavy (8) track in Melbourne.
He was better in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) when surprising a few with a close third under a half-length off the winner Golden Mile from a wide draw on Soft going.
Osipenko also resumed in the Eskimo Prince when fifth and is sure to build on that getting out over further this weekend.
Zou Tiger meanwhile was runner-up in the Eskimo Prince with the son of Zoustar looking to turn the tables on his last start conqueror.
Last September he ran third at this track and distance at a huge price behind Jacquinot.
That form has already been franked this season with Jacquinot winning last Saturday’s Group 1 CF Orr Stakes on protest in Melbourne which bodes well for Zou Tiger this weekend.
The only other runners currently under $20 are the consistent Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas winning Kiwi raider Pier ($14) for Darryn & Briar Weatherley having his first run down under and the Michael Freedman-trained Communist ($18) coming off a third fresh in the Eskimo Prince.
The Hobartville Stakes 2023 is set to run as Rosehill Race 8 at 4:40pm (AEDT) with full markets thanks to Ladbrokes.com.au available here.
