Hinged Heads 2022 Vinery Stud Stakes Field & Betting Markets

**Rescheduled Tancred Stakes 2022 Day Races to Run at Newcastle on Monday 28th**

Chris Waller’s Surround Stakes winning filly Hinged is tipped to add another Group 1 to her CV heading the 2022 Vinery Stud Stakes betting markets for this weekend at Rosehill.

Waller has won two of the past three editions of the Tancred Stakes Day support act with Verry Elleegant (2019) and Hungry Heart (2020) and returns with a trio of fillies in this year’s Group 1 $500,000 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).

Leading the Waller contingent and latest Vinery Stud Stakes odds at a firming $4 through Ladbrokes.com.au is his daughter of Worthy Cause, Hinged, who won the Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m) two back.

Last start she took on the older mares at Rosehill in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and was far from disgraced when two lengths back second behind Lighthouse.

She is back against her own age in the Vinery stepping out over further than a mile for the first time and is drawn ideally in barrier four with Brenton Avdulla to ride.

Savannah Success (1999) was the last filly to complete the Surround Stakes – Vinery Stud Stakes double and the money is coming for Hinged to be the next.

Waller also saddles-up Fangirl ($6) and Pretty Amazing ($7.50) from barriers 10 and 13 respectively in this year’s Vinery Stud Stakes field.

First-up this autumn Sebring filly Fangirl won the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) before a fifth in the Surround Stakes from a wide draw when only two lengths beaten.

She was last seen running fourth to Mr Mozart as the beaten odds-on favourite in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes (1500m) here with excuses.

Back against the girls and out to 2000m she is tipped to improve and atone with Hugh Bowman booked for the ride.

Pretty Amazing chases her fourth win on the trot, the untapped American Pharoah rising notably in grade after her Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic (1600m) victory on March 11.

Following Hinged in Vinery Stud Stakes betting is the $4.20 second elect Gypsy Goddess, David Vandyke’s unbeaten daughter of Tarzino five-from-five to date.

The Sunshine Coast-trained filly has been outstanding in Queensland so far including her nearly four-length victory at Eagle Farm last December in the Group Grand Prix Stakes (2100m).

First-up she was equally as emphatic in her three and a half-length win at the same track over a mile.

Fit second-up she looks a huge hope in her Sydney debut, proven at the distance where the 2000m is a potential roadblock for a few of her notable rivals.

Rounding out the fillies at single-figure Vinery Stud Stakes odds this season is the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Never Been Kissed ($9).

The Tivaci filly beat Hinged last October narrowly at a blowout price in the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) and went on to finish runner-up to Profondo in a big Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) run over the Vinery distance.

She returned with a somewhat disappointing run for 10th in the Surround Stakes, but was improving in the Phar Lap when second to the boys and looks value again here going up to a more suitable distance third-up.

The 2022 Vinery Stud Stakes is set to run as Newcastle Race 6 at 5:20pm (AEDT) on Monday the 28th with full markets courtesy of Ladbrokes.com.au available here.
