The weather in Sydney today sees scattered showers on the forecast and the potential for heavier rain later in the afternoon meaning there could be a downgrade to the current Soft (5) Randwick track rating as the meeting progresses.
Randwick racing gets underway at 11:40am (AEST) and the bumper 10-race card continues through until 5:10pm (AEST).
Punters are treated to four Group status races starting with Race 5 at 2:00pm with a small field of The Everest hopefuls led by odds-on favourite Nature Strip doing battle in the Group 3 $160,000 Concorde Stakes (1000m) where Wisdom Of Water (5) is the only scratching.
Race 6 at 2:35pm (AEST) is the Group 2 $200,000 Furious Stakes (1200m) for the Flight Stakes-bound fillies and there are 13 remaining in the second leg of the Princess Series led in betting at Ladbrokes.com.au by the returning She’s All Class for Chris Waller.
Annabel Neasham’s resuming seven-length Doomben Cup hero from the winter, Zaaki, is first-up favourite in Race 7 with all 10 final acceptors still in the mix for the Group 2 $200,000 Tramway Stakes (1400m).
The meeting’s marquee race is then the Group 2 $250,000 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) running as Race 8 at 3:50pm (AEST).
The 2021 Chelmsford Stakes field is down to 13 with the race’s six-time winning trainer Waller opting scratch Dashing Willoughby (11) for a run in Friday’s Listed Wyong Gold Cup where the returning stayer only managed to run ninth as the beaten favourite.
Updated Chelmsford Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au has the autumn’s Doncaster Mile winner Cascadian at a firming price to win second-up off his eye-catching fifth in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) last start.
