Randwick Guineas third placed filly Harmony Rose is tipped to salute coming back against her own kind as the favourite in 2021 Vinery Stud Stakes betting this weekend at Rosehill Gardens.
The key support act on Tancred Stakes Day, this season’s Group 1 $500,000 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) field features a quality line-up of 10 three-year-old fillies eyeing a potential ATC Oaks run this autumn.
Heading the latest Vinery Stud Stakes odds at $2.70 through Ladbrokes.com.au is the Mark Newnham-trained daughter of Glass Harmonium, Harmony Rose presenting fit third-up.
The classy grey saluted at the Kensington track in February before rising notably in grade to take on the boys in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 6.
She was eye-catching that day over a mile when third only one and a half lengths off the winner Lion’s Roar and runner-up Mo’unga.
The Randwick Guineas form was franked last Saturday with the runner-up going on to win the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m), which bodes well for Harmony Rose this Saturday.
Jockey Joshua Parr retains the ride from barrier one on the hard to beat favourite.
Two other fillies are under double-figures in Vinery Stud Stakes betting on Saturday with the spring’s VRC Oaks winner Personal ($5.50) on the move and the Chris Waller-trained Hungry Heart ($6).
The Tom Dabernig & Ben Hayes-trained Personal is an ultra-consistent daughter of Fastnet Rock who doesn’t know how to run a bad race.
She was excellent last season with her campaign including a Group 1 Thousand Guineas second and finishing with the Group 1 VRC Oaks success at HQ over 2500m.
This time in she’s had two Flemington runs when runner-up in the Group 3 The Vanity and third in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes over a mile on March 6.
Getting out over a more suitable distance third-up she presents as a huge threat, and while she needs to handle the Sydney way of going, a Soft-rated track like she won the Oaks on will suit.
Waller chases his second Vinery Stud Stakes win in three years after his 2019 success with the brilliant Verry Elleegant and looks to have a strong chance in the highly-rated Hungry Heart.
The well-bred Frankel chestnut ended a string of frustrating runs when she atoned for the disappointing eighth in the Group 1 Surround Stakes to win the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes on March 13.
She was excellent in getting the job done too coming from last on the turn after a luckless start and returns to the same track here with the momentum and confidence helping her cause.
Adding intrigue to the line-up is the acceptances of the airborne Kiwi-trained Power filly Force Of Will ($11) coming four straight wins back home across the Tasman and Danny O’Brien’s Group 2 Kewney Stakes winner Starelle ($18) at generous odds.
