It is raining across Melbourne today and with plenty of rain on the afternoon’s forecast there is a potential for a downgrade to the current Good (4) Moonee Valley track rating later in the day.
Racing on All-Star Mile Day gets underway at 12:15pm (AEDT) and the exciting nine-race program continues through until 5:20pm (AEDT).
Of course, the big news is around the scratching of the Grant & Alana Williams-trained three-time Group 1 winning mare Arcadia Queen from the third edition of the $5 million The All-Star Mile (1600m).
The daughter of Pierro was the highest vote-getter during the public vote for the Top 10 in The All-Star Mile 2021 field, but her quest to hand the stable back-to-back wins in the race came to an end on this morning before the official 7:30am (AEDT) scratchings deadline.
She was found to be 1/5 lame on Thursday after shifting a plate and needing to be re-shod, which then went to a 2/5 in her right off-fore at her next inspection.
Arcadia Queen underwent a third and final examination by Racing Victoria vets on race day morning, which she failed to pass, forcing her withdrawal and paving the way for first emergency Fifty Stars ($21 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) to start from barrier five.
Updated The All-Star Mile odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au are now led at $3.50 by Probabeel coming off the lead-up win over Arcadia Queen at Caulfield in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m).
Hot on her heels is the notable market mover, Danny O’Brien’s Cox Plate third-placegetter at the track last spring Russian Camelot ($4.50) drawn ideally in gate two first-up since his run in the Melbourne Cup.
