A total of fifteen runners from the Darren Weir stable will feature at Caulfield on Saturday, and while all eyes will be on Cup favourite Kings Will Dream, one of Weiry’s other runners also happens to open at single-digit odds.

Four-year old Peaceful State is the early $4.50 favourite ahead of the Group 3 Ladbrokes Moonga Stakes (1400m), but after a disappointing 12th placing in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield a month ago, Weir feels far from confident.
“He’s a really good galloper but he’s got a terrible race style” Weir told RSN on Friday.
“He’ll get back and you sort have got to hold your breath a bit, and you know, you need so much luck with horses like this. He’s got the ability, but how can you be confident with his racing style.”
Peaceful State, who’s won four of his 12 career starts, is yet to win at Group level despite running second behind Grunt in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington in March.
Fortunately for punters, the son of Animal Kingdom owns a strong third-up record, and if his form in the listed Chandler MacLeod Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley last month was anything to go by, Peaceful State should be better suited to the 1400m journey this weekend.
Finishing runner-up behind fellow stablemate Land of Plenty, Peaceful State was unlucky to lose by half a length. Jumping from barrier two proved handy as jockey John Allen sat well off the speed to race along the fence down the straight, but like Weir said, it all comes down to the right position at the right time .
Barrier seven will prove handy for the pair on Saturday, although $4.60 second-elect Dreamforce will be tough to beat jumping from the inside gate. John P Thompson’s six-year old has won twice second-up with four career victories to his name over the 1400m journey.
