The Bostonian listed among the 2018 Sunshine Coast Guineas nominations

Kiwi gelding The Bostonian is listed among the nominations for the 2018 Group 3 $125,000 XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

The Tony Pike trained The Bostonian, one of twenty-four three-year-olds nominated for the Sunshine Coast Guineas, is already a winner on the track two starts back in the Listed $125,000 Kirin Daybreak Lover (1200m) June 10.

The Jimmy Choux three year old then made it two Queensland Winter Racing Carnival wins with an all the way victory in the $75,000 QTIS Three Year Old Plate (1350m) at Doomben last Saturday.

The Bostonian is also nominated for the Listed $175,000 Oaks Hotels & Resorts Glasshouse Handicap (1400m) at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

Chris Waller has nominated two three-year-olds for the Sunshine Coast Guineas, Gresham and Seaway, but the leading trainer said that he will more than likely only have one runner in Seaway.

“We won’t have a big representation at the Sunshine Coast. At this stage Seaway will be our only runner in the Guineas but that could change after I have a talk with my staff,” Waller told AAP.

Seaway has worked his way up through the grades with three wins from eight starts and has already performed creditably during the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival with a last start second to his stablemate Sambro in the Group 2 $350,000 Ascot Green Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Doomben on June 9.

Local trainer David Vandyke has nominated Eminent and Golden Sheaf and both three year olds are last start winners but will be stepping up sharply in grade in the Sunshine Coast Guineas.

Eminent made it two wins from his last three starts in a 1710m BenchMark 90 Handicap at Ipswich on May 30 while Golden Sheaf is also a last start Ipswich winner in a BenchMark 65 Handicap over 1666m on June 20.
