So Far Sokool was able to win her second race for the Ballarat based trainer Archie Alexander with a four lengths victory in the $150,000 Bendigo Guineas (1400m) at Bendigo on April 7.
The Showcasing filly began her career in New Zealand before arriving at Alexander’s stable and she has also saluted in a 1514m BenchMark 64 Handicap at The Valley in December last year.
Nikita Beriman was having her first ride on So Far Sokool in the Bendigo Guineas and said the filly exploded in the straight when she let her go.
“She relaxed beautifully,” Beriman told racing.com.
“I had the option of going in or out at the top of the straight and I wanted to give her as much room as possible.
“Her turn of foot was explosive and she put them away easily.”
Alexander will have plenty of opposition to try to stop him taking the trophy back to Victoria with several local promising fillies among the nominations for the J H B Carr Stakes.
Team Snowden have nominated Moss Trip who ran a mighty race when one and a half lengths fifth to Shoals in the Group 1 $500,000 James Boag’s Premium Surround Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on March 3.
The Gerald Ryan trained Problem Solver has been racing very consistently this campaign and has a win and three seconds from four starts since January, her latest being a second to Houtzen in the Group 3 $200,000 The Man Shake P J Bell Stakes (1200m) on day one off The Championships at Randwick on April 7.
P J Bell Stakes runner up Manicure is one of three nominations for the J H B Carr Stakes from the all-powerful James Cummings stable along with Banish and last start Wyong Maiden winner Guipure.
Banish was at her best during the 2017 Melbourne Spring Carnival with a win in the Group 2 $200,000 italktravel Fillies Classic (1600m) at The Valley but has been well beaten at her two 2018 Autumn Carnival runs, her latest a fifteenth in the P J Bell Stakes.
