Sydney racing on Saturday is headlined by the gun three-year-olds in the Hobartville Stakes 2018, betting tips and updated odds on the autumn feature detailed below.

The Group 2 $400,000 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) field of 11 face off in Rosehill Race 7 at 4:25pm (AEDT) and nearly half the runners are under $10 for the win.

Current favourite in Hobartville Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au listed at $2.40 to salute for the punters is the progressive Godolphin-raced Lonhro colt Kementari.

Trainer James Cummings has a big wrap on the Caulfield Guineas runner-up who resumed at Warwick Farm on February 10 to win the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) by nearly three lengths.

This is tougher, but he is fitter and oozes class so shapes-up as a good bet for favourite backers in a star-studded race.

The danger looking at the latest Hobartville Stakes odds this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival shapes-up as Golden Rose winner Trapeze Artist ($3.80) who saluted first-up in the Expressway Stakes at the track and who has been backed in from $4.20.

So will the top two in the markets be fighting it out in the finish or is there value to be found in this year’s Hobartville Stakes with the likes of Pierata ($7) chasing a third win on the trot or the undefeated Chris Waller-trained D’Argento ($7.50) drawn well in barrier four looking for a fourth victory from as many career starts?

#2 Trapeze Artist ($3.80)

This is a ripping edition of the Hobartville Stakes and really all bar about two could win. Happy to go the way of Trapeze Artist however based on that incredible all-the-way upset in the Group 1 Golden Rose at this track / distance by over four lengths in the spring. Forgiven already for the Coolmore Stud Stakes down the Flemington straight, proving himself first-up in the Expressway. Right track, right distance and gets a good run from the mid-field barrier. Think he will take some holding out.

#3 Kementari ($2.40)

Deserving favourite after the excellent Eskimo Prince Stakes success fresh a fortnight ago. Doesn’t really need to improve much to win again and the extra meters suit. He’s won over the 1400m and was second over a mile in the Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas. Another that was unsuited to the drop back to 1200m in the Coolmore Stud Stakes and who is better now in Sydney. Glyn Schofield retains the ride in another plus.

#6 Siege Of Quebec ($10)

Could prove the value bet in the race, this ultra-consistent Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Fastnet Rock colt is well-bred and living up to the pedigree with three wins and two seconds from five starts to date. At his pet Rosehill track (3:2-1-0) for the first time since saluting as odds-on favourite over 1100m first-up on January 27. He has started favourite in all career starts, including finishing runner-up to Kementari in the Eskimo Prince Stakes, and gets the chance to atone with proven form over 1400m. Distance suits and he could get up on the pace trying to go all-the-way.
