2017 Makybe Diva Stakes Day Results: Humidor Wins The Feature

It is a big afternoon of racing at Flemington on 2017 Makybe Diva Stakes Day today and we will be covering the results as they happen at Races.com.au.

All but one of the races on Makybe Diva Stakes Day will be contested at black type level and some of the Spring Carnival’s most exciting horses will be in action.

All the action on 2017 Makybe Diva Stakes Day is set to get underway with the running of the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) for three-year-old fillies at 12:30pm, while the feature race is slated for 4:15pm.

Race 1 (12:30pm) Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes Results

Fox Swift has produced an impressive turn of foot in the final 200m to win the Cap D’Antibes Stakes this afternoon.

The Foxwedge filly was all but forgotten in Cap D’Antibes Stakes betting markets in the hours leading up to jump, but did her chances of winning the race no harm when jumping well and taking an ideal position just behind the early pace.

Offered a clear racing line upon with 300m to run, the filly immediately responded when asked for an extra effort and kicked clear of her rivals to post the impressive win.

Race 2 (1:05pm) Listed Pin & Win Plate Results

Royal Symphony has produced an incredible sprint in the final straight to overcome a wall of horses and continue his unbeaten career start through this afternoon’s Listed Pin & Win Plate.

A resounding favourite in Pin & Win Plate betting markets, Royal Symphony jumped well, but was locked away on the fence and in the second half of the field.

Faced with simply too much to do and caught behind almost the entire field, jockey Dwayne Dunn found a gap between horses and was greeted with an electric turn of foot as Royal Symphony savaged the line for the impressive win.

Race 3 (1:40pm) Listed The Sofitel Results

Theanswermyfriend has led from start to finish to comfortably take out The Sofitel at his third-up start this afternoon.

Theanswermyfriend finished a close second at his two starts prior to The Sofitel this season, but left nothing to chance this afternoon and was immediately led to the fore of the field by jockey Craig Williams after jumping well.

Kicking four lengths clear in the final straight, the High Chaparral gelding tired in the final stages of the race, but held on to beat Mr Sneaky by close to two lengths.

Race 4 (2:15pm) Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality Results

Redkirk Warrior has stamped himself as a serious contender for The Everest with a dominant first-up win in the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Quality this afternoon.

The seven-year-old strode to the lead in the early stages of the Group 2 and set a fair tempo in transit, before mustering an outstanding kick in the late stages of the race to win the race by close to four lengths.

Perth raider Scales Of Justice stamped himself as a horse to follow this campaign with a smart second, while Land Of Plenty worked to the line well for third.

Race 5 (2:55pm) Group 2 Danehill Stakes Results

Talented filly Catchy has returned to winning form via an outstanding performance in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes this afternoon.

Jockey Regan Bayliss settled Catchy off the early pace in the Danehill Stakes and waited patiently before producing the filly in the final 300m of the race.

Jukebox was smart to the line and finished a close second, while Booker also worked home well to round out the minors.

Race 6 (3:35pm) Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes Results

Sword Of Light has completed a perfectly-timed sprint to win the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) at Flemington this afternoon.

The New Approach mare jumped from the gates well and was immediately led towards the fore of the field by jockey Damien Lane; eventually settling on the heels of early leader Lovani.

The mare was offered a clear racing line upon arriving at the final straight and kicked clear; maintaining well to the line to withstand a late surge from a luckless Swampland.

Race 7 (4:15pm) Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes Results

Outstanding import Humidor has mustered a big turn of foot to post his second career Group 1 win in the Makybe Diva Stakes this afternoon.

Jockey Damien Lane elected to settle Humidor off the early pace in the Makybe Diva Stakes and after working the horse into the race rounding onto the final straight, was greeted with a big turn of foot.

Hartnell worked to the line fairly to finish second, while consistent gelding Black Heart Bart completed the trifecta.

Race 8 (4:55pm) Listed Japan Racing Association Trophy Results

Melbourne Cup winner Almandin has produced a huge stying performance to comfortably win the Listed Japan Racing Association Trophy this afternoon.

Almandin was unlucky not to win at The Valley first-up and after finding a good position in transit within the JRA Trophy field, mustered a devastating turn of foot on the rails in the final straight to win the race by more than six lengths.

Stable mate Crocodile Rock worked to the line well to finish second, while Aloft rounded out an all-Macedon Lodge trifecta.
